When someone hears Winston-Salem, NC maybe the first thought is Tobacco Industry, and people may be right, after all, it is the home town of Winston, Salem, Doral and Eclipse; but there is so much more about Winston-Salem, NC. The Twin City was made one when the two postal offices of Salem and Winston were combined in 1889 and their union was official around 1910 when they were join by an hyphen. Besides the cigarrettes, this town is the proud home of Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, one of the very firsts black universities, University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Salem College. Winston-Salem, NC has beautiful woodlands sorrounding it, golf courses and it has the first Krispy Kreme Donoughts store since this is the place the famous franchise was founded. This town is so attractive thas people like Jada Pinkett Smith, Mary-Louise Parker, Jill Wagner, John Tesh and Earl Monroe among others had lived in this city. And why wouldnt they love it? After all, poet Maya Angelou lived here and found, for sure, some of her inspiration in here.
