Selling Gold in Tacoma, WA
A mid-sized city located 32 miles southeast of Seattle, Tacoma is the county seat for Pierce County, Washington. Tacoma got its name from nearby Mt. Rainier, then known as Mt. Tacoma or Mt. Tahoma. It was founded in 1852 by a Swedish immigrant who set up a sawmill and the city was eventually incorporated in 1875 following railroad agreements. It became known as The City of Destiny due to its selection as a railroad hub by the North Pacific Railroad. Tacoma is home to a handful of historical landmarks, most notably Engine House no. 9, a former firehouse built in 1907 and now converted into a pub that brews its own beer. The city is roughly 63 square miles in area and is home to 199,000 people as of a survey taken in 2009.
