The city was incorporated on July 20, 1816, at the settlement near Fort Pitt where the convergence of the Allegheny and Monongohela Rivers form the Ohio in area long inhabited by Native Americans. Heinz and Bayer, Inc. Notable Pittsburghers include, Andrew Carnegie, Andy Warhol, Gene Kelly, Michael Keaton, Christina Aguilera and Joe Namath.
