Boeing, which is one of the worlds largest aerospace manufacturers, and Xerox are some of the non-energy contributors to the citys recession-proof economy which has diversified to information technology and education as well over the years. The University of Oklahoma is an acclaimed seat of high learning in the country whose proud alumni include astronaut Fred Haise, Governor Brad Henry and actor Ed Harris. Oklahomas climate is defined by frequent tornadoes, annual rainfall of 36 inches and an average temperature of 27.8 C during summer and 15.7 C during the cold winters. Oklahoma is recognised as key player in pollution control. The Myriad Botanical Gardens and Oklahoma History Center are key tourist attractions.
