Selling Gold in Mesquite, TX
Mesquite, TX was originally founded in 1873 by an engineer for the Texas and Pacific Railroad. Shortly thereafter, the first train would run through the community. Many say the town was originally named Mesquite after the plethora of Mesquite trees in the region, and during the early years the area consisted of only four homes and handful of businesses. The town would become incorporated 14 years later in 1887, becoming the second town to incorporate outside of the Dallas area. Mesquite slowly grew in population throughout the 20th century, reaching 27,345 people by 1960. Currently, Mesquite stands at over 135,00 people, with a humid sub-tropical climate and employment dominated by the United Parcel Service. Known as the rodeo capital of Texas, Mesquite also offers a variety of entertainment options and sits only 30 miles from the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.
