Lewisville, TX was originally incorporated after a 1925 election, but the town has roots that date back 80 years prior in the 19th century. Beginning in the 1840s, the Republic of Texas allowed 600 families to emigrate to what is now Lewisville, TX with a grant of 640 acres for families and 320 acres for bachelors, respectively. By 1925, Lewisville TX had only grown to around 850 residents, with five cotton gins and two saloons making up the area. After the incorporation, the new municipality grew to 1,500 by 1950 and has continued to see an increase in residents, with a current population of close to 90,000. The town of Lewisville, TX is now home to over 3,600 businesses as well, with notable employment opportunities around the town center.
