The city received its charter from the state legislature in 1953 establishing a council/manager form of government. The Mccullough range is the range closest to the city and most of the region of this range is covered by the black rocks from a volcanic explosion millions of years ago. The landscape consists of a desert having no water.The only scope of water is from the washes like Duck Creek.
