Alexander Dechman established the city of Grand Prairie as a trade town in 1863. The first name of the city was Dechman and city grew gradually. Grand Prairie changed its name three times in its history. In 187, it was renamed as Deckman before changing its name finally to Grand Prairie, TX. The city was officially incorporated in 1909. Lone star park, Verizon Theater and GPX state park are the major attractions of the city. The city has a sound network of schools, medical facilities and transportation.
