The city of Garland is located in the Dallas and Collin counties in the state of Texas, USA. Garland is undeniably a city with a history, once doused in community rivalry (between the original Embree and Duck Creek communities), ravaged by a terrible tornado and a destructive fire. Today the city has a population of over 222,013 with over 41% African American residents followed by about 45% of Hispanic and Latino citizens. Interestingly Garland has found cross cultural references in several TV shows like, Star Trek, King of Hills and the Film Zombieland.
