Fontana is a city in the American state of California. Originally a rural town of chicken ranchers, hog farmers and orchard owners, today Fontana is an important commuters suburb and a major hub for the tracking industry. Fontanas economy is largely dependent on trucking and equipment based industries with some of the major players like Toyota, Target, Sears, Mercedes-Benz, Southern California Edison, Home Shopping Network, and Avery Dennison located here. As of 2009, the city has a population of 189,021 with over 37.8% under the age of 18. While the city has always been enroute several popular vacation and tourist resorts it has developed quite a few tourist attractions on its own, namely, the largest of the San Bernardino County system libraries, a renovated historic theater, a huge new municipal park, and the Auto Club Speedway, and a NASCAR racetrack. Van Halen guitarist Sammy Hagar is from Fontana.
