El Paso is a city in western Texas, USA. It is the 22nd largest city in the USA with a population of over 800,000 residents. Surrounded by the Chihuahuan Desert, El Paso has a warm and dry weather most of the year with extremely hot summers. The One of the largest military bases in the USA, Fort Bliss is located in the north east direction of the city and is a major contributor to the citys economy. Close to 70 fortune 500 companies like The Hoover Company, Eureka and Boeing have offices in El Paso. The city is also home to the University of Texas at El Paso. The whole region is surrounded by several large national parks like the Big Bend National Park, The Carlsband Caverns National Park and the Guadalupe National Park. El Paso had the honor of being the 2nd safest city in Texas in 2007 and is home to 2 NASA astronauts; Patrick G. Forrester and John Danny Olivas, and several senior members of the US legislature and armed forces.
