Located along the river Mississippi, Davenport is a city in the state of Iowa, USA. The city was named after Col. George Davenport, an American frontiersman, trader and Army officer. Due to its location near the Mississippi river, the city has a humid continental climate which makes it prone to tornados and frequent flooding. Regardless, the city is rich in history and culture and is a suitable place to raise a family since it won the civil livability award in 2007 and also has over 27 parks and over 12 miles of recreational paths. Davenport also has the honor of hosting some important music festivals all through the year like the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, The Mississippi Valley Fair, and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival.
