Settled in 1842, Carrollton, Texas is a suburb of Dallas. In 2006, the city was named in the Top 100 Places to Live, and Money magazine selected it in 2006 as the nineteenth best place to live and in 2008 as the fifteenth best place. It is believed that Carrollton, Texas was named after a city in Illinois where many of the citys original settlers came from. These days it has one of the states largest Korean settlements and is home to many Korean-American businesses. Easywell, a subsidiary of Halliburton, and Carlson Restaurants both have their operating headquarters in Carrollton, Texas. The A. W. Perry Homestead Museum is a city landmark. This lovely homestead was owned by the city founders son and completed in 1909. The Town Square, with its gazebo, is located where a spring flowed prior to 1900. It is charming and the scene of many town gatherings while also being an active retail area. Carrollton was home to the rapper, Vanilla Ice. Deron Williams, the NBA basketball player, attended Middle School in Carrollton, and Travis Williams, the football player for the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns, was born in the city.
