FAQ
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions.
If you have any other questions please email us at CustomerService@TheGoldLining.com.
What kind of gold do you buy?
We buy all different types of gold. From wedding bands to dental scrap, from coins to necklaces. We are able to evaluate, measure and test gold in virtually any format you might have it, in order to value it and purchase it. Furthermore, we buy all different purities of gold, from 14 carat to pure gold, no matter what kind of gold you have, well buy it.
How much is my gold worth?
The value generally depends on the weight and the composition of the gold. The higher the number of the gold, 14 carat versus 18 carat for example, the more valuable the gold. The number refers to the purity of the gold, and it is taken into account with the weight of the metal. In rare cases the value of the item is greater than the value of the raw material, such as rare coins, but for the most part it is the intrinsic value of the gold that determines the price we are able to pay. In an effort to be able to offer you the most money for your gold, we conduct business online, so we have minimal overhead. That results in the best offer for you, our customer.
Is it safe to mail you my gold?
We have never had any trouble receiving clients packages. To ensure that everything remains safe and secure, we use a PO Box to receive packages, and we self address the envelope we send to our customers just to make sure.
What if I want my gold back?
We will happily return your gold to you any time before we issue payment. If you send us your gold and change your mind, just send us an email with your request and your customer number and we will happily and quickly mail your gold back to you in a discrete and secure package.
Do you report this transaction to the IRS?
We do not report our transactions to the IRS; it is your responsibility to report the information to any appropriate organizations. We do comply with the Patriot Act, and we may request further information from our customers from time to time in order to maintain our full compliance.
Can you appraise my ring for me?
Unfortunately we cannot. There is a conflict of interest when a potential buyer issues an official appraisal. Unless what you own is an antique or a name brand piece of jewelery, or a rare coin, most gold is simply valued by weight. An appraisal is not necessary for common pieced of consumer gold.
Do you buy stolen gold?
No. If you have a stolen gold we strongly suggest you call the police and turn yourself in. We keep meticulous records, and we will only disburse funds for gold in the form of a check, to help ensure that their is a paper trail. We comply with all law enforcement efforts to combat theft.
