Selling Gold in New York
Home to the largest city in the United States, the state of New York has an interesting story to tell. As one of the 13 original colonies, New York is much older than many of the other states in the Union, with European settlement starting shortly after the first wave of immigrants came to Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. A group of settlers from the Netherlands started a city that they called New Amsterdam. Later, after the British Empire gained control of the city, it was renamed New York. The city, now with 8 million residents, is one of the most important cities in the world. It is a financial and cultural leader, with numerous corporations and institutions headquartered there, such as the JP Morgan and the United Nations. The state has much to offer outside New York City, with places like Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and the capital Albany all have something to offer. Home to the Statue of Liberty, few places symbolize the United States better than New York.
