Montana is known as the Land of Shining Mountains and it is one of the youngest states of the American Union. It was admitted to the American union on November 8, 1889. The geography of the state made it popular as Big Sky Country because a major portion of its area is occupied by large mountain ranges. The state was a popular military post during its early years. The state also saw the great battle fought by the Native Americans to hold control of their own lands. In late 1850s, gold and silver mines were found in the state, which attracted employers and employees towards it. Even today, the gold industry is one of the prominent industries in the state. Fishing industry is another important industry of the town and as the state is surrounded by many small rivers, the tourism industry is also expanding in the state. Max Baucus and Jon Tester are two of the more influential politicians from the state.
