The population of the state is mainly centered in the Boston metro area, with the western portion being largely rural. Culturally, it is home to footballs Patriots, baseballs Red Sox, hockeys Bruins, and basketballs Celtics. It is also home to a lively music scene, with notable bands including hard rocking Boston and the alternative darlings Sonic Youth. Well known for its high quality educational system, Massachusetts boasts two of the best known universities in the country in Harvard and MIT. This great state will continue to lead the United States into the 21st century.
