Kentucky, the Bluegrass State, joined the United States in 1792 as the 15th member of the Union. It was the home of notable pioneer Daniel Boone. Its geography mostly consists of the rolling Appalachian Mountains, which provide stunning beauty and spectacular views. The population of Kentucky is currently at 4.3 million people. While many people have heard of the larger cities in Kentucky like Lexington and Louisville, many folks do not know that the capital of the state is Frankfort, a small town of less than 30,000 people. One of the most revered Presidents the USA ever had, Abraham Lincoln, was born in Kentucky. Interestingly, so was the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. Kentucky is a place well worth visiting for its history, culture, and diverse landscapes.
