In the year of 1803, Iowa became a U.S. territory and has an interesting past that separates itself significantly from
other states. The land got its name from the Indian word Ayuhwa which means sleepy ones. In addition,
Iowa didnt become an official state until the year of 1846; this is due to american settlers not wanting to join
and the Black Hawk War. Deeply rooted in agriculture, Iowa is known as the Food Capital but is diverse economically.
Major manufacturing companies in Iowa are John Deere and Pela products. Located in the mid-west, Iowa is subject to
the harsh humidity and brash winters of most mid-western states. Beautiful to behold, Iowa is known for its luscious
timbers, rich soil, and wonderful scenery. The land is a scenic get away for those wanting to escape the city.
The states capital is Des Moines. Famous locations and monuments of Iowa
include Terrace Hill (the mansion of a governor), the genuine American Gothic House, and the Brucemore Mansion.
