Idaho is one of the youngest states to be incorporated in the American union. Idaho was absorbed into the American union on 3 July 1843 and it became the 43rd American state. The state became popular and affluent because of the presence of the gemstones in the state. The state was given the name of Gem State because of availability of almost every gem in its natural state. The state is a mountainous state and the meaning of its name is the sun comes from the mountains. Today, the state is famous as an energy state as it produces electrical energy through hydroelectric power plants. As a tourist destination, the lakes in the state make it popular and beautiful. The major lakes of the state are Hayden Lake, Lake Cascade, Stanley Lake and Warm Lake. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch are the US senators from the state of Idaho.
